After falling to No. 12 Ohio State on Thursday by a score of 2-0, the Terps tough Big Ten schedule continues on Sunday as another ranked opponent travels to College Park. It has not been easy sledding for Maryland since entering conference play. A 1-6-1 record and the fact that they have been outscored 18-4 has the Terps reeling in the wrong direction.

On Thursday night in Nebraska, the Maryland Terrapins women’s soccer team had a rough night, as they were shutout 3-0. On Sunday in Iowa City, things got even rougher for the Terps as they fell to Iowa 4-0.

Early Gopher goals are too much for Terps

Once again the Maryland Terrapins women’s soccer team (7-3-2, 1-3-1) found themselves down early 2-0 in the first half. After trailing Wisconsin 2-0 on Friday, the Terps were able to mount a comeback and force a 2-2 draw. However, Maryland was not able to recapture that magic from Friday as they fell to the Gophers (7-2-3, 3-1-1) 3-1.

After falling behind early 2-0 to Wisconsin it looked as if the Maryland Terrapins women’s soccer team was on their way to another Big Ten defeat; however, a deep goal from freshman Gi Krstec woke up a slumbering Terps’ offense. The team would respond with another goal and record a 2-2 draw against the No. 12 Badgers.

When the Maryland Terrapins women’s soccer team takes the field in Piscataway, New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, they will be plenty rested. It has been 10 days since the Terps last took the field for their matchup against William and Mary, and it was something the team desperately needed.

Terps return home to face Tribe

Up to this point, it seems to be a recipe for success for Maryland. In their overtime contests to date, the Terps sit at 3-0-1. Overall, Maryland has begun the season with a 5-0-1 record as they continue to exceed expectations. On Thursday night, whether it comes by a blowout or a nail-biter, the Terps will look to remain unbeaten in 2017.
