In the midst of their second-longest winning streak, the Terps have found their stride and will try to reach an impressive 23rd win Thursday night when they play Purdue at home.
Maryland (22-3, 11-1) are coming of a three-game road trip where they won all three games by an average of 11 points.
Their most recent victory came against Rutgers in Piscataway where five players scored in double figures, led by Eleanna Christinaki, who recorded 18 points and six assists.
Christinaki has been one of the top two scorers for the Terps over their seven-game win streak, averaging 13.8 points per game
This is the Terps second-to-last game at Xfinity, a place where they have only lost one game all season. This game can also clinch Maryland a first-round bye in the Big Ten tournament.
In contrast, Purdue (16-10, 7-5) has been inconsistent all season. The Boilermakers have lost their last two – both at home – one of them to an Indiana team who currently ranks lower than them in the Big Ten standings.
Prior to that, they stole two games on the road,, one against the 13th ranked Michigan Wolverines, ending the game on a 16-0 run to send it to overtime. The Boilermakers are 3-0 against ranked teams this year.
Purdue can score just as well as Maryland, good enough for 27th in the nation.
However, Maryland ranks second in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage. shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc.
The one thing the Terps can improve on is rebounding, as they have been outrebounded in their past two games, despite both of those being wins.
Sophomore guard Kaila Charles leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.2 a game, along with her team-leading 18 points per game.
The Terps haven’t lost to Purdue since they joining the Big Ten and hope to keep that winning streak, along with their current seven-game win streak, alive.
Tipoff is set for 6 pm.
