Dillon Brown signed his national letter of intent Thursday for the University of Maryland Golf Team. The Halifax, Massachusetts native joins Will Koras as class of 2018 signees for Maryland.
Brown, who verbally committed in June, attended Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, Massachusetts.
Brown won the 2017 Massachusetts State Golf Association’s Junior Amateur Championship at the Orchard’s Golf Club in Hadley, Massachusetts in August. He finished the three round championship at eight under-par winning by two shots.
Brown began the final round two shots back of the leader. He started the round hot making birdie on three of his first five holes. This surge gave Brown his first lead of the championship. After Brown made a double-bogey on the 12th hole, he responded by making birdie on three of his last six holes for the championship. Brown capped of the championship by making an 18- foot birdie putt to seal the victory.
Brown not only displayed superb physical talent but great mental strength. The ability to play from behind and recover from his mistakes in a state championship gives great hope for the Terrapins. Brown is coming to College Park with a game ready to compete at a Division One level.
