Terps land commitment from 3-star WR Darryl Jones

Maryland football received great news on Tuesday morning when three-star wide receiver Darryl Jones committed to the Terps.

According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver is the No. 59 wide receiver in the country and the No. 7 overall player in the state of Virginia.

Jones chose the Terps over Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Syracuse and Temple, among others. He will become Maryland’s fifth player from the Virginia Beach area, joining wide receiver Tahj Capehart, and defensive tackles Brandon and Breyon Gaddy.

The Terps have landed three from this area in the 2018 class with commits from quarterback Tyler DeSue, wide receiver Brian Cobbs and now Jones.

Jones is now the 17th commit in the class of 2018 and the 13th commit from the DMV area. Up to this point, head coach DJ Durkin has dominated the DMV area in recruiting. The Terps could also gain another commitment today with three-star defensive end Tyler Baylor.
