The 6-foot-3, 290-pound lineman becomes a late Class of 2017 walk-on for the Terrapins. He received an offer on Feb. 27, and then took a two-day visit to College Park starting on March 6.
Hagey held offers from a variety schools including Humboldt State, University of Texas of the Permian Basin and West Liberty, according to 247Sports. The California product, however, also received offers from power-five conference schools like Boston College, Duke, North Carolina, Northwestern, Temple and Washington.
Last year’s Maryland football roster included no players from California.
Maryland’s Class of 2017 ranked 18th in the country after signing day and fourth in the Big Ten behind Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. The class, comprised of 28 athletes, includes eight four-star recruits.
