K Jonathan Doerer flips to Notre Dame

South Mecklenburg (NC) two-star kicker Jonathan Doerer flipped his commitment from Maryland to Notre Dame Sunday, he announced on his Twitter account.

Doerer originally committed to Maryland July 29. He is the No. 17 kicker in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

After taking an official visit to Notre Dame this weekend, Doerer decided to take his talents to South Bend for the next four years.

Maryland has place-kickers Adam Greene and Mike Shinksy on the roster for next season. The duo combined make 10 of its 15 field goal attempts last season.
