The Dotted Line: Bryce Brand commits to Maryland

Clayton Valley (CA) 3-star linebacker Bryce Brand flipped his commitment from Arizona to the University of Maryland Friday night, per 247Sports.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pound linebacker is the No. 81 outside linebacker in the Class of 2017, per the 247SportsComposite Rankings. He originally committed to Arizona on June 14 after an unofficial visit. Brand took an official visit to College Park on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3, the first of consecutive major recruiting weekends for DJ Durkin and his staff.

Brand is a package deal with his brother, Ryan, who was a former Elite 11 quarterback in the class of 2015. Ryan originally committed to Air Force as a member of their class of 2015. He will be a preferred walk-on for the Terps, according to 247Sports.

As a preferred walk-on, Ryan will not count against the scholarship limit for Maryland.

Bryce joins Ayinde Eley and Nick Underwood as commits at the linebacker position in this class.
Their commitments give Maryland their 28th and 29th of the cycle and the 17th ranked class in the country and the 4th ranked class in the Big Ten, according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.
